The catalog

Every coin, properly on the books.

Year, mint mark, series, variety, composition, grading service — PCGS, NGC, ANACS, ICG, or raw — Sheldon grade, certification number, quantity, and location. A fast, sortable ledger with running totals, even across thousands of coins.

Lot 01 · The record

A real catalog, built for coins.

Not a generic inventory list with a photo field. Planchet's entry form speaks the hobby's language, so what you record is what a numismatist — or an appraiser — would expect to find.

  • Full attribution — series, variety, composition, mintage, and mint mark.
  • Grading, properly — service, Sheldon grade, designation, and cert number.
  • Photos preserved — obverse, reverse, and detail shots at full resolution, capture data intact.

Lot 02 · The source

Every value, with its source.

Most tools store one number. Planchet stores the why. Each coin keeps a dated valuation history, and every entry names its source — a purchase price, your own estimate, the PCGS Price Guide, a dealer quote, or a formal appraisal.

  • When an insurer — or your family — asks how you arrived at a figure, the answer is already recorded.
  • Years later you can still see exactly why a coin is valued the way it is.

Lot 03 · The deliverable

Reports built to leave your Mac.

Generate an insurance schedule or an estate inventory in two clicks — a professional PDF with a cover page, itemized entries showing photos and certification numbers, the dated source behind every value, and signature lines.

  • Clear enough for family — a complete record someone else can understand.
  • Credible enough for professionals — every figure carries its date, its source, and its supporting detail.
  • Ready when it counts — no rebuilding a spreadsheet the week the carrier asks.

Lot 04 · The move

Move in without starting over.

Import a CSV from your old coin program, map its columns onto Planchet's fields once — with presets for common coin apps — and keep working. Export whenever you choose. Your records are never trapped.

  • Made for anyone left stranded by an old coin program that no longer runs on a modern Mac.
  • Also included: dashboard with charts and top holdings, cert lookup, slab-label scanning, full undo, and built-in backups.

The fine print

Questions, answered.

Is this a subscription?

No. Planchet is a one-time purchase. You buy it once and own it, with paid major upgrades down the road that are always optional — your existing version keeps working.

Can I move my collection over from another coin app?

Yes. Export your current program to CSV, then map its columns onto Planchet's fields — there are presets for common coin apps, so you're not re-typing anything. You can export back out anytime; your data is never locked in.

Where is my data stored? Is it private?

On your Mac. Planchet keeps your collection and photos locally — not on a server — so your records stay yours and work offline. See the privacy policy for the full picture.

Will it run on my Mac?

Almost certainly. Planchet is a native Mac app that runs on macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later — you don't need the newest system. If you are on macOS 26 Tahoe, it adopts the system's Liquid Glass design automatically; on earlier versions it uses the standard Mac material look instead. Nothing is missing either way.

Can I use it for insurance or estate planning?

Yes. Planchet generates itemized insurance schedules and estate inventories with photos, certification numbers, dated valuations, sources, and signature lines. The reports organize your records; they are not a substitute for a professional appraisal when one is required.
